How Our Converters Work
Data Preservation
Nested objects and arrays are flattened into columns while preserving relationships between fields. No data is dropped during conversion.
Customization
Choose the delimiter and whether the first row holds column names. The Excel converter also lets you pick the sheet and keep formulas or their results.
Format Support
Supports deeply nested JSON, multi-element XML documents, multi-sheet Excel workbooks, and proprietary health tracker export formats from major wearable brands.
Live Preview
See the converted rows before you download them, then change the options and convert again until the output looks right.
When Should You Convert to CSV?
CSV is the universal exchange format for tabular data. If you need to open data in a spreadsheet, import records into a database, feed data into a visualization tool, or share information with a colleague who doesn't have specialized software, CSV is almost always the right choice.
Importing API responses into spreadsheets: Most modern web APIs return data in JSON format. While JSON is great for software, it isn't natively supported by Excel or Google Sheets. Converting JSON API responses to CSV lets you filter, sort, and create pivot tables from your data without writing code.
Migrating between systems: When moving data between platforms — such as switching CRM providers or consolidating databases — CSV serves as a reliable intermediate format that both the old and new systems can work with.
Analyzing health and fitness data: Wearable devices generate valuable personal data, but their native export formats (typically JSON or XML) are difficult to read. Converting to CSV enables you to build custom charts, calculate averages, and spot trends in your activity, sleep, and heart rate data using familiar spreadsheet tools.
Archiving and long-term storage: CSV files are plain text, which means they will remain readable decades from now regardless of which software is available. For important datasets, CSV is one of the most future-proof storage formats.
