See who doesn't follow you back on Instagram

Compare2Lists shows who doesn't follow you back on Instagram by comparing the followers and following lists from Instagram's official data export. Drop in the export and every account lands in one of three lists: don't follow you back, you don't follow back, and mutual. The files are read in your browser and our code never uploads them, and you never log in to Instagram or give anyone your password.

The comparison tool on this page runs with JavaScript, in your browser.

How to download your followers and following from Instagram

Instagram doesn't show a list of people who don't follow you back, but it will give you your full followers and following lists as a file. These are the steps in Accounts Center.

  1. 1. Open Accounts Center

In the Instagram app, go to your profile, tap the menu in the top right and open Accounts Center. On a computer, click More, then Settings. Some accounts show Meta Account instead of Accounts Center. The steps after this are the same.

  2. 2. Your information and permissions

Tap Your information and permissions, then Export your information. Older versions of the app call it Download your information.

  3. 3. Create export, to your device

Tap Create export, pick your Instagram profile and tap Next. Choose Export to device.

  4. 4. Followers and following, All time, JSON

In the information to export, clear everything except Followers and following. Set the date range to All time and the format to JSON, then tap Start export.

  5. 5. Download the ZIP and drop it here

Instagram's Help Center says an export can take up to 30 days, and you get a notification when it's ready. Download it from Available downloads within 4 days. Drop the whole ZIP on the tool above. If you unzip it, the files are in connections/followers_and_following: followers_1.json (plus followers_2.json and so on, if there are more) and following.json.

Privacy

Read in your browser

JavaScript on this page reads the export on your device. Our code doesn't upload your files or send your usernames anywhere, and there is no server behind the tool that could store them.

No Instagram login

Apps that ask for your Instagram password can act as you on your account. This page never asks for it and never connects to Instagram.

Ads and analytics

Google AdSense ads and Google Analytics load on this page, as they do across the site. The tool's analytics event records how many accounts landed in each list. It never includes usernames.

Questions

How do I see who doesn't follow me back on Instagram?

Instagram doesn't show this list anywhere in the app. Export your followers and following from Accounts Center, then drop the files into the tool on this page. The "Don't follow you back" list shows every account you follow that isn't in your followers file.

Can this show who unfollowed me?

One export shows who doesn't follow you right now. To find people who unfollowed you, keep this export and request a new one later. Load each followers file here, copy the usernames from the Followers box, and paste the old list and the new list into the compare tool. Anyone who is only in the old list has unfollowed you, or has deactivated or renamed their account.

Do I need to log in to Instagram or give my password?

No. This page never asks for your Instagram username or password and never connects to your account. It only reads the export files that you download from Instagram yourself.

How long does the Instagram export take?

Instagram's Help Center says it can take up to 30 days to get the export. When it's ready, you have 4 days to download it from Available downloads in Export your information. Asking for Followers and following only keeps the file small.

Are my files uploaded anywhere?

Not by this tool. The comparison runs in your browser, and our code doesn't send your files or usernames to a server. Like the rest of the site, this page loads Google AdSense ads and Google Analytics. The analytics event the tool sends counts how many accounts landed in each list and never includes usernames.

Why do the numbers differ from my profile?

The export is a snapshot from the moment you requested it, so follows since then aren't in it. If you have a lot of followers, Instagram splits them across followers_1.json, followers_2.json and so on. Add every part, or drop the whole ZIP, which includes them all.

Does it work with the HTML export or a list I copied myself?

Yes. The tool reads the JSON export, the HTML export (followers_1.html and following.html) and the whole ZIP. You can also paste usernames or profile links, one per line.

Is Compare2Lists part of Instagram?

No. Compare2Lists is an independent site and is not affiliated with Instagram or Meta. It works with the export file Instagram gives you.
